Travel with small group in South America and fly between destinations and enjoy panoramic train views enroute to Machu Picchu. You will be guided by a dedicated Tour Leader from Argentina through Brazil who will travel on the plane with you and another local Tour Leader in Peru who stays with you the whole way. In Peru, prepare for high-altitude travel in places like Cusco and Lake Titicaca when you are in the mountains. Your Amazon adventure includes a two-night stay in a jungle eco-lodge with day & night hikes and canoe boat ride. There’s also time to relax and explore at your own pace, with free time, plus optional tours (extra cost) on free days like Rainbow Mountain for those seeking more adventure. Your journey ends in the Galápagos Islands exploring Santa Cruz and Isabela Island and the unique wildlife with speed boat rides, beach walks, hiking to Sierra Negra Volcano along with swimming and snorkelling. Fitness
A moderate level of fitness is required. You are required to move about unassisted, including boarding and exiting/disembarking vehicles and other forms of transportation, walking up and down flights of stairs, and navigating occasional uneven or steep terrain. If airport transfers are included, they may not always reach the hotel door, so short walks may be required of you.  This trip is not suitable for travellers’ requiring wheelchair, mobility scooters or specialised facilities. Other walking aids may be permitted if you are able to move independently and keep pace with the group. Please note that there will be a fair amount of walking and some locations will have stairs. Exclusions
Meals not stated, Drinks on meals, Travel insurance, Galapagos National Park Fees and Transit Control Card Fee in Quito, Optional tours, Visas (if required), Tipping, Personal expenses, and anything not explicitly specified are at your own expense. Any costs associated with an interruption to your tour because of an airline schedule change or cancellation.

Payment
A first deposit from $499 per person is required to secure your booking. A second deposit (partial payment) is due 10 months before departure – the amount to be advised at the time of booking. The final balance will be due 5 months before departure. Full payment is due at the time of booking for departures within 5 months.

Children
This tour is best enjoyed by adult travellers and is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Children 12 years and above are subject to the adult price and must be accompanied by an adult.

Pace
The pace of this tour is moderate, and we usually spend two or three nights in most destinations and includes flights in South America. We slowly increase our altitude in the Andean highlands in Peru starting in Sacred Valley 2800 meters and finishing in Puno 3800 meters. Sometimes passengers may experience symptoms of altitude sickness such as headaches, shortness of breath, or fatigue. We recommend staying well hydrated and consulting your doctor prior to travel if you have any concerns. Scheduled free days allow some downtime, or alternatively, you have the flexibility to explore further and book optional tours (at your own expense on tour). In the Galápagos, enjoy a slower pace with speedboat transfers between islands, snorkelling adventures, and two relaxing nights on Isabela Island’s pristine beaches.

Extra Nights
Extra Nights at the start of tour for one or two people in Buenos Aires at the same tour hotel or similar area, can be added with rates from $199 per night, subject to availability.

Santiago City Stopover
Includes airport transfers and hotel for two nights in the city with breakfast. The stopover can be booked at the start or end of the tour, to break the journey from $399 per person, based on twin/double occupancy. A surcharge may apply to the international airfare. Subject to availability.

Santiago Airport Hotel
If you want to break the journey with a one-night rest at Santiago Holiday Inn Airport, this can be included with rates from $569.00 per room. A surcharge may apply to the international airfare. Subject to availability.

Tipping
Tipping for the tour leader and driver is discretionary but strongly recommended as a gesture of appreciation for the service and local insight provided throughout the tour. It is customary to tip the tour leader and driver at the end of the tour an amount from 12 AUD per person per day. For any local guides on tour 5 AUD per person/ per day and boat drivers in Galapagos 5 AUD per person/ per day.

Passport
Each customer must provide a copy of the passport photo page at the time of booking. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that all names are provided in full and exactly match the passport details, which must be valid for at least six months beyond the trip completion date. The customer is liable for any fees incurred due to incorrect names, invalid passport information, or expired passports.

Visas
All visa requirements are subject to change. Visa requirements for each origin and destination country are the responsibility of the customer to check and obtain (if required) with the local consulate or embassy. The customer is liable for all visa application costs and fees due to the failure to obtain the required travel documents.

For non-Australian passport holders: Please check visa and entry requirements with your local consulate or official government website before travel.

Argentina
Australian passport holders – as a tourist, you can stay for up to 90 days without a visa, but you will need evidence that you intend to depart the country within the 90 days, for example: a return or onward ticket. All international travellers to Argentina must hold valid travel insurance with medical coverage. This insurance may be requested and verified upon arrival in the country.

Brazil
You will need a visa to enter Brazil. You will not be able to obtain a visa at the airport or border entry permit. For more information contact an embassy or consulate of Brazil. Entry and exit conditions may change without warning. Follow the advice of border and health authorities and comply with local regulations. Contact the nearest embassy or consulate of Brazil, or airline for more information.

Peru Australian passport holders as a tourist, do not need a visa. You can get a permit to stay for up to 90 days when you arrive. You may need a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter Peru. Some airlines may want to see one when you leave. If you have visited Peru in the previous 6 days, you will need a valid certificate to enter Australia. Find out about returning to Australia after exposure to yellow fever.

Chile (adding a stopover)
Australian passport holders as a tourist, you can stay for up to 90 days without a visa. When going through Immigration, you will be given a tourist card. You must keep this card, as it will be requested at departure. If you lose it, you will have to request a new one from Immigration, and your departure from Chile may be delayed.

Ecuador
Australian passport holders can enter Ecuador as a tourist for up to 90 days without a visa. You will need to show proof of onward or return travel within that period, such as a confirmed ticket. Your passport must have at least six months’ validity from your date of entry.

Galapagos Islands
A Galapagos declaration form can be pre-registered online along with the Transit Control Card (TCT) before travelling to the islands. This is presented at the airport before check-in for Galapagos Islands. The fee is currently 20USD for the Transit Control Card.

Visitors will still visit the CREG counter in Quito to present their Transit Control Card Galapagos National Park entry fee is USD 200 per person upon arrival in the Galápagos. This must be paid in cash.

United States (Transiting)
If travelling on an Australian passport, an ESTA (visa waiver) for the USA is a strict requirement when travelling to or flying through the USA. Once a USA ESTA visa waiver is issued it is valid for 2 years or until your passport expires (whichever is sooner) and will allow multiple entries into the USA. Deviation  
Stopover package in Santiago and extra nights in Buenos Aires at the start of the tour are not subject to the deviation fee (applicable airfare and tax difference may still apply) if booked according to the original advertised dates and routing. Any request to deviate from above and the routing, including early arrival and stay behind, is subject to a flight deviation fee from $150 per person plus applicable airfare and tax difference.

Health
Comprehensive travel insurance is required, with COVID-19 coverage strongly recommended.
All international travellers to Argentina must hold valid travel insurance with medical coverage. This insurance may be requested and verified upon arrival in the country.
All travellers need to be in good physical health to participate fully on this trip for the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others. Prior to travel consult your doctor for up-to-date medical travel information or for any necessary vaccinations and medication before departure. If you are carrying medication, ensure you check foreign travel advice for any local restrictions or requirements and keep medication in their original packaging.

High Altitude
Travelling in high altitude in Peru will affect some travellers, with no apparent regard to age, gender, or physical condition. If you have any concerns, please consult your doctor prior to purchase of travel. Yellow Fever
A valid international certificate of vaccination against Yellow Fever is required in many countries. You may need to present this on arrival at the airport or border crossing. Some countries will refuse entry if you are unable to present your certificate. It is also common for your home country to request a Yellow Fever certificate upon arrival. You must check with your doctor well before leaving home about the Yellow Fever requirements for the countries you will be visiting.

Malaria, Dengue and Zika
In the Amazon region, conditions can be humid and buggy. To reduce the risk of insect-borne illnesses such as dengue, malaria and zika, we recommend bringing strong insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants in the outdoors. Consult your doctor before leaving about the requirements.

Baggage
Each person is entitled to a strict maximum of one bag not exceeding 20kg on the coach tour, superseding any other baggage allowance. Excess baggage is not permitted.

International flights – up to 20kg
Flights in South America – 1 carryon bag – 7kg

You are strongly encouraged to pack lightly. A light day bag or backpack is permitted on the coach (upto 7kg). Porterage is not included, and you are required to carry your own bags. Luggage and personal effects are your own risk, and we hold no liability for lost or damaged belongings.

A soft overnight bag or backpack is required for your stay at the Amazon Lodge and for the train journey to Machu Picchu, as large suitcases are not permitted (max 7kg). There are no luggage compartments on the trains to Machu Picchu.

Meals 
Please notify us at the time of booking of any special dietary requirements and allergies. We will pass on your requirements but cannot guarantee that they can be met as certain choices may be limited or not catered for.
