Welcome to Cape Town, South Africa! On Arrival, make your own way to the hotel, where you can unwind and relax for the remainder of the day. Hotel check-in is available from 2pm onwards and your Tour Leader will be on-site in the afternoon to assist with check-in.

 
Cape Town City Tour

Meet your Tour Leader in the hotel reception for a morning city tour of Cape Town. During the tour, you’ll pass by the historic Castle of Good Hope, learning about its rich history, the origins of Cape Town, and what makes the city so special. You’ll also see landmarks such as St George’s Cathedral and enjoy a leisurely stop at the Company’s Garden. This afternoon, you will have the option to join your Tour Leader for a drum & wine tasting experience (at your own expense).

In the evening, you will join your fellow travellers and enjoy a Welcome dinner.

Cape Town Free Day

Today is a free day to explore this beautiful city and its surroundings. You may choose to join an optional full‑day Cape Town Peninsula tour available through your Tour Leader (at your own expense), where you can enjoy a scenic drive to Cape Point—one of the most pristine and unspoilt national parks —see penguins in their natural habitat at Boulders Beach, and meander through the trendy, vibrant town of Kalk Bay. Alternatively, you can take the opportunity to discover iconic sites such as Robben Island, the V&A Waterfront, Bo‑Kaap, and Table Mountain on your own.

Cape Town – Robertson – Karoo Region

This morning, we depart Cape Town and travel through the fruit and wine growing regions of Robertson and Montagu, renowned for their orchards & beautiful scenery. We follow Route 62 through picturesque mountain ranges, stopping en route for a cheese and wine tasting before continuing to the Karoo region, where we will arrive in the late afternoon to check in for the night.

This evening you have the option of going outside into the dark night sky tour to discover the stars above (at your own expense, weather permitting).

Karoo Region – Knysna (Garden Route)

Start the day with a heritage walking tour to one of South Africa’s hidden treasures, the Cango Caves. This cave valley features a series of dripstone caverns that are more than 20 million years old. Continue to a working ostrich farm in Oudtshoorn and learn about these impressive, large, feathered animals. After lunch, travel toward the coast and into the heart of the Garden Route.

Enjoy a free evening to soak up the atmosphere or join your Tour Leader for a cruise to admire the glorious sunset (at your own expense).

Knysna – Garden Route National Park

This morning is free for you to enjoy the waterfront shops and restaurants in Knysna at your own pace, or you may join your Tour Leader for the optional Featherbed Eco Experience, which includes a ferry ride, 4×4 drive, guided walk, and buffet lunch while you learn about the reserve’s flora and fauna (at your own expense). This afternoon, we head into the greater Garden Route National Park, a spectacular region of rivers, deep gorges, rugged mountains, lush indigenous forests, and vibrant plantations—perfect for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts alike. After the visit, return to the hotel and enjoy a relaxed, free evening.

Knysna – Game Drive – Mossel Bay

This morning, you may choose to join an optional activity (at your own expense), such as roaming freely among the monkeys at Monkeyland or visiting Birds of Eden, the world’s largest free‑flight aviary and bird sanctuary. Continue your journey along the iconic Garden Route to Botlierskop Game Reserve for an exciting safari in this private reserve. Experience close encounters with incredible wildlife, including impalas, wildebeests, rhinos, lions, giraffes, and more. This evening, travel onward along the coast and stop to admire the sweeping views before arriving in Mossel Bay.

Hermanus – Stellenbosch – Cape Winelands - Cape Town

This morning is free for you to explore Hermanus at your own pace, or you may take advantage of being in one of the best whale‑watching locations in Africa and join your Tour Leader on a boat excursion, a chance to see the Marine Big 5   (at your own expense).

Then we take a scenic drive through the Cape wine region. South Africa has the oldest wine industry outside of Europe. Stop in the town of Stellenbosch, in the heart of the Cape Winelands, where you can admire the Cape Dutch architecture and enjoy the many laid‑back coffee shops, boutiques, and art galleries. Taste South Africa’s signature wine, Pinotage, and learn about Cape district wines from a local wine expert. This evening, return to Cape Town.

Chobe National Park, Botswana

Our Southern Africa tour is carefully designed to give a real insight into the wildlife, culture, and natural beauty of the country. This will be a combination of coach travel and flights in Africa. There is sightseeing and free time to explore, with optional tours (extra cost on tour) Breakfast at hotels is typically continental buffet style cold dishes and basic hot dishes.

Fitness
A moderate level of fitness is required. You are required to move about unassisted, including boarding and exiting/disembarking vehicles and other forms of transportation, walking up and down flights of stairs, and navigating occasional uneven or steep terrain. If airport transfers are included, they may not always reach the hotel door, so short walks may be required of you.  This trip is not suitable for travellers’ requiring wheelchair, mobility scooters or specialised facilities. Other walking aids may be permitted if you are able to move independently and keep pace with the group. Please note that there will be a fair amount of walking and some locations will have stairs. If you have any health concerns, let us know when booking so we can help confirm if this trip is suitable for you.

Exclusions
Arrival transfer in Cape Town, meals not stated, drinks on meals, optional tours, visas (if required), travel insurance (strongly recommended), tipping, personal expenses and anything not explicitly specified are at your own expense.

Payment
A first deposit from $499 per person is required to secure your booking. A second deposit (partial payment) is due 10 months before departure – the amount to be advised at the time of booking. The final balance will be due 5 months before departure. Full payment is due at the time of booking for departures within 5 months.

Fitness
A moderate level of fitness is required to move about unassisted walking up and stairs and navigating occasional uneven or steep terrain. You will be required to carry your own bags to and from hotels, stations, and terminals. This trip is not suitable for travellers with wheelchairs, mobility scooters or facilities for disabled guests. Other walking aids may be permitted if you are able move about unassisted at the required pace. For advice on whether this trip is suitable for you, you are required to disclose physical ailments at the time of booking.

Pace
The pace of this tour is lively. The on-the-go nature of this trip rewards you with maximum sightseeing opportunities but involves early starts and several long travel days. One to two nights stays along the Garden Route and 3-night stay in Cape Town, Kruger Region and Victoria Falls. Scheduled free days allow some downtime, or alternatively, you have the flexibility to explore further and book optional tours (at your own expense).

Extra Nights
Pre or post tour accommodation for one or two people in Cape Town at the same tour hotel or similar area, can be added with rates from $280 per night, subject to availability.

Child
This tour is best enjoyed by adult travellers and is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Children 12 years and above are subject to the adult price and must be accompanied by an adult.

Price
Surcharges may apply for select travel periods and departure cities. Prices are correct at time of publication and are subject to availability, change, cancellation or withdrawal without notice. All prices are in Australian dollars per person twin share unless stated otherwise.

Amendment
Each amendment is subject to a non-refundable fee from $75 per person. Additional fees and fare differences from third-party suppliers including air, tour, cruise and accommodation providers may apply.

Change & Cancellation Fees
Changes for any reason will incur a fee of $110 per person per change in addition to any travel service provider fees. Cancellation for any reason will incur a fee of $550 per person in addition to any travel service provider fees. Travel service provider fees for the tour and air components of the package are dependent on the date of the change or cancellation as follows:

  • 0-29 days before departure 100% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply
  • 30-60 days before departure 65% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply
  • 61-99 days before departure 50% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply
  • 100-180 days before departure 30% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply
  • 181+ days before departure 10% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply

Airfares are generally non-refundable but any refundable ticket taxes will be returned. Full details of the change and cancellation fees is outlined in the Terms & Conditions available on our website

Deviation
Any request to deviate from the original dates or routing, including early arrival and stay behind, is subject to a flight deviation fee from $150 per person plus applicable airfare and tax difference. Packaged tour extensions are not subject to the deviation fee (applicable airfare and tax difference may still apply) if booked according to the original advertised dates and routing.

Passport
For international travel, each customer must provide a copy of the passport photo page at the time of booking. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure all names are full names exactly matched to the passport with six months validity beyond trip completion. The customer is liable for all fees due to incorrect names, invalid passport information and expired passports.

Visa
South Africa
A visa is not required for Australian passport holders for the purpose of short-term tourist.

Victoria Falls – Zimbabwe
Australian passport holders (category B) need a visa to enter Zimbabwe. You can obtain it on arrival at any point of entry, or better yet, pre‑apply and pay online ahead of your trip https://www.evisa.gov.zw

Botswana
A visa is not required for Australian passport holders if you’re a tourist visiting for up to 90 days.
For a day trip to Chobe National Park from Zimbabwe, you’ll cross at the Kazungula border into Botswana, and your AU passport will simply be stamped for entry. No prior visa or payment is required.

All visa requirements mentioned above are subject to change. Visa requirements for each origin and destination country are the responsibility of the customer to check and obtain (if required) with the local consulate or embassy. All nationalities must check with consulate and embassies for requirements. The customer is liable for all visa application costs and fees due to the failure to obtain the required travel documents.

Health
It is the responsibility of the customer to check and comply with the health, vaccination, COVID-19 and immigration requirements of each origin and destination country, and health requirements imposed by air, tour, cruise and accommodation providers. Vaccinations, testing and quarantine costs are the expense of the customer. Comprehensive travel insurance with COVID-19 coverage is strongly recommended.

Baggage

Each person is entitled to a strict maximum of one bag not exceeding 20kg on the coach tour, superseding any other baggage allowance. Excess baggage is not permitted. You are strongly encouraged to pack lightly. A light day bag or backpack is permitted on the coach. Porterage is not included, and you are required to carry your own bags. Luggage and personal effects are your own risk, and we hold no liability for lost or damaged belongings.

Meals
Please notify us at the time of booking of any special dietary requirements and allergies. We will pass on your requirements but cannot guarantee that they can be met as certain choices may be limited or not catered for. You are encouraged to reconfirm requirements with your tour leader whilst on tour. Breakfast at hotels is typically continental buffet style cold dishes and basic hot dishes.

Accommodation

Tipping
Tipping for guides and drivers is discretionary and recommended as a gesture of appreciation for the service provided. It is customary to tip the tour leader and driver at the end of the tour from 80 to ZAR per person/per day. It is common to tip 10 to 15% on restaurant bills.

Flights
The outbound flight may depart one day prior to day 1 shown on the itinerary. The inbound flight may arrive one day after the final day shown on the itinerary. Flights are booked approximately 8 to 10 months prior to departure. The flights included in your package are based on a specific predetermined airfare allowance. Should there be a significant increase in airfares, fuel levies, taxes or government fees at the time of booking flights, then an airfare supplement may be imposed. The flights team will discuss options with you prior to ticketing, should this situation arise. Flights may not operate daily or directly to your destination. No show of any flight sectors will result in the automatic cancellation of all onward flights by the airline.

Fuel
In the unlikely event of a significant increase in fuel costs levied by third-party air, land and cruise transportation operators before travel, a fuel supplement may be passed on to the customer.

Transfers
Arrival transfer in Cape Town is not included. On departure in Victoria Falls, we have included one group transfer from the hotel to the airport for your convenience. If your flight doesn’t line up with this transfer time, you’ll need to make your own way to the airport.

Group Size
This holiday will proceed with a minimum group size considered suitable for an optimal group tour experience. If the trip does not operate, you will be offered a credit. Max group size is 48 people.

Optional Tours
Optional tours must be booked directly with the guide on tour and paid in the local currency ZAR for South Africa and may be subject to minimum numbers to operate. Tours may be paid by cash or card.  International fees may be incurred if using a credit or debit card.

Itinerary
The operating schedule and itinerary may be impacted without notice by adverse weather, seasonal factors, closures, local conditions, COVID-19 or other factors beyond our control including force majeure. If attractions are not available due to reasons beyond our control such as closures or adverse weather, alternatives will be provided where possible. The itinerary and its order, sightseeing and transportation may be adjusted as deemed appropriate by the operator for optimum safety, enjoyment and operation. Any reference to ‘optional’, ‘not included’ or ‘exclusions/excluded’ means at your own expense.

Breakaway
Customers must always remain with the tour group and must not leave the tour unless written approval is provided before departure.

Documentation
Final documentation will be emailed no later than 30 days before departure.

Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is not included and is strongly recommended. Ask our holiday experts for great coverage options.

Force Majeure
Force majeure means any natural disaster, accident, fire, act of God, act of war, terrorism, legally binding judgment, injunction, action of a court or other relevant authority, emergency, unplanned repairs, maintenance, strike, industrial dispute, work ban, blockade or picketing, travel ban, pandemic, epidemic or outbreak of infectious disease, or other event beyond our reasonable direct or indirect control. In case of force majeure or other extraordinary event that prevents safe travel, the supplier reserves the right to adjust, postpone or cancel the trip.
