Welcome to Egypt. On arrival in Cairo, you will be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel.
After breakfast at your hotel, join your Egyptologist guide – who will be with you throughout the tour – and head to the Giza Plateau, home of the breathtaking Sphinx and Pyramids of Giza.  Then visit the world renowned Egyptian Museum, with your guide and stroll through the halls as each historical period is highlighted with Egyptian Antiquities of this ancient land.
This morning take an early flight from Cairo to Luxor. Visit the huge temple complex of Karnak, take in the soaring columns and numerous temples and structures – justifying Luxor’s reputation as the largest open air museum in the world! Your afternoon is free to relax on board your 5-star Nile cruise or to explore Luxor’s markets. In the evening, take a walking tour of the beautiful Luxor Temple spectacularly lit up at night.

After breakfast this morning, visit the Edfu Temple, dedicated to the god Horus. Then enjoy the cruise on your river ship as it continues upriver towards Kom Ombo. Watch traditional rural Egyptian life slide by on the lush banks of the Nile. At Kom Ombo, tour the temple with its beautifully preserved friezes and mummified crocodiles, amongst other artifacts. The cruise then continues on to Aswan.

Optional Tour: Early start at 3.30am drive to the spectacular Abu Simbel temple, famous for its impressive four huge seated statues carved into the rocky hillside and facade and return to Aswan around midday – extra cost /book on tour. If not visiting Abu Simbel, the morning is free to explore the colourful souks and markets found in the town.
In the afternoon visit the huge Aswan High Dam, en route to the island temple complex of Philae. The temple remains one of Egypt’s most romantic and picturesque sites having been completely relocated following submersion from the Lower Aswan Dam.
Overnight: Nile Cruise
Disembark the Nile Cruise boat after a relaxed breakfast, and a board traditional felucca sailboat. Visit Elephantine Island, and enjoy a local lunch then sail on to Kitchener Island and walk through the Botanic Garden. Return by boat to Aswan and head to the train station for your overnight sleeper train journey back to Cairo (approx 12 hours with an airline style evening meal and breakfast served onboard). An upgrade to fly Aswan to Cairo is available – if you would prefer to fly, this will include an extra night in Cairo with airport transfers. Dinner is own arrangements in the evening. Extra cost from $330 per person . This flight must be pre-booked 5 months prior to departure, subject to available flight times when the schedules are released.
Overnight sleeper train (private twin cabins)
This morning arrive in Cairo and transfer from the train station to join the morning guided walking tour of Cairo to the Khan-el-Khalili bazaar. Walk the winding back streets of Cairo, where Islamic architecture and Coptic churches are surrounded with spice markets and colourful shops. Lunch is included at at traditional Egyptian restaurant before heading back to the hotel for some free time.
Today we depart Egypt with a transfer included to the Cairo airport. On arrival a transfer is included to the hotel. The rest of the day is yours free to either relax or explore the city on your own.
After lunch, tour the Spice Bazaar and Rustempasa Mosque, and continue by boat covering both the European and Asian banks of the Bosphorous. The Bosphorous is a very important strait of water, connecting the Mediterranean and Black Seas, and the Asian and European halves of Istanbul.
Our trip begins this morning with a fully guided tour of Istanbul. Lying across two continents this historically important city played an integral role in the development of both the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. We visit the 17th century Blue Mosque, the Aya Sofya museum, Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum and the Hippodrome. In the afternoon fly to Izmir to the coastal Mediterranean town of Kusadasi, our base for the next two nights.
After breakfast we drive to the Roman site of Ephesus. The city at one time housed 250,000 people and is regarded as one of the best preserved ancient cities in the Mediterranean. We visit the Temple of Artemis, and explore the ancient marble streets of this ruined Greek & Roman city. This afternoon we visit the fruit wine growing village of Sirince and learn about the history of carpet weaving in Turkey.
We travel east this morning to Pamukkale, site of the well known white calcium terraces known as Travertines. Pamukkale translates as ‘cotton castles’ and the naturally occuring geology here has created cloud like formations unlike anywhere else. We then head to the ancient city of Hierapolis to enjoy a dip in the hot thermal pools lodged amongst ancient columns left by the Romans who used the pools for their therapeutic powers.
Travel back in time today as we follow the ancient Silk Road towards Konya. We learn more about the history of this important trade route with a stop at the Sultanhani Caravanserai before arriving in Konya where we include a visit to the Mevlana museum – the former home of the original Mevlevi Whirling Dervishes. A fun and entertaining Turkish Folklore evening is available tonight (optional – extra cost).
Today we set out to explore the beautiful and surreal landscape of Cappadocia. Unlike anywhere else on earth, this bizarre setting creates a fairytale view full of improbable rock formations and underground villages. Often described as the jewel of Turkey we have a full tour here to explore the Goreme Valley Open Air Museum and the fairy chimneys. We’ll also explore an underground city full of subterranean churches, schools, living areas and shops used by Christians to avoid persecution over a thousand years ago. Options are available locally to enjoy a hot air balloon flight or a Turkish bath.
We leave early this morning for the drive to Ankara, Turkey’s modern day capital city. We visit Anitkabir – mausoleum of the famed Mustafa Kemal Ataturk before returning to Istanbul by road. This is a long day’s drive, and we can arrange an upgrade to fly from Kayseri in Cappadocia if you prefer (flight- extra cost).
Your time is free today for some last minute sightseeing and shopping in Istanbul before we transfer you to the airport for your flight home. We can also add extra nights in the Istanbul hotel if you’d like to spend more time exploring the city.

Payment
A first deposit from $499 per person is required to secure your booking. A second deposit for flights is due 12 months before departure – the amount to be advised at the time of booking. The final balance will be due 5 months before departure. Full payment is due at the time of booking for departures within 5 months.
Fitness
A moderate level of fitness is required. You are required to move about unassisted, including getting on and off coaches and other forms of transportation, walking up and down flights of stairs, and occasional uneven or steep terrain. You will be required to carry your own bags to and from hotels, stations and terminals. This trip is not suitable for travellers requiring wheelchair, mobility scooters or facilities for disabled guests. Other walking aids may be permitted if you are able move about unassisted at the required pace. For advice on whether this trip is suitable for you, you are required to disclose physical ailments at the time of booking.
Pace
The pace of this tour is easy to moderate. The on-the-go nature of this trip rewards you with maximum sightseeing opportunities but involves some early starts and a couple of long travel days  Scheduled free days allow some downtime, or alternatively, you have the flexibility to explore further and book optional tours (at your own expense).

Amendment
Each amendment is subject to a non-refundable fee from $75 per person. Additional fees and fare differences from third-party suppliers including air, tour, cruise and accommodation providers may apply.
Cancellation
Cancellation at any time is subject to a non-refundable fee from $550 per person. Additional fees and fare differences from third-party suppliers including air, tour, cruise and accommodation providers may apply.
Deviation
Any request to deviate from the original dates or routing, including early arrival and stay behind, is subject to a flight deviation fee from $150 per person plus applicable airfare and tax difference. Packaged tour extensions are not subject to the deviation fee (applicable airfare and tax difference may still apply) if booked according to the original advertised dates and routing.
Passport
For international travel, each customer must provide a copy of the passport photo page at the time of booking. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure all names are full names exactly matched to the passport with six months validity beyond trip completion. The customer is liable for all fees due to incorrect names, invalid passport information and expired passports.
Egypt & Turkey Tourist Visa
It is your responsibility to check all requirements with your local consulate, embassy or visa centre
Australian passport holders require a tourist visa is required for travel to Egypt and is available for purchase on arrival for most, but not all nationalities.
For Turkey Australian passport holders will need to apply for an e tourist visa https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/
If you’re not eligible for an e-visa, you’ll need to arrange a visa through an embassy or consulate of Turkey before you arrive. If you don’t, authorities may refuse entry.
Health
It is the responsibility of the customer to check and comply with the health, vaccination, and immigration requirements of each origin and destination country, and health requirements imposed by air, tour, cruise and accommodation providers. Vaccinations, testing and quarantine costs are the expense of the customer. Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended.
Baggage
Each person is entitled to a strict maximum of one bag not exceeding 20kg on the coach tour, superseding any other baggage allowance. Excess baggage is not permitted. You are strongly encouraged to pack lightly. A light day bag or backpack is permitted on the coach. Porterage is not included and you are required to carry your own bags. Luggage and personal effects are your own risk and we hold no liability for lost or damaged belongings.
Meals
Please notify us at the time of booking of any special dietary requirements and allergies. We will pass on your requirements but cannot guarantee that they can be met as certain choices may be limited or not catered for. You are encouraged to reconfirm requirements with your tour leader whilst on tour.
Overnight Train
Train – Overnight sleeper converts from a seat to bed
Luggage stays with owner in the cabin. These are private twin cabins which seat 2 people, with fold-down beds bunk style (one with a ladder). The train steward will make up the beds in the evening, with sheets, pillow, & blanket.
There is a storage cupboard, sink and fold-away table in each cabin. An airline-tray-style evening meal and breakfast is served on board. Clean bathroom and toilet at the front & back of each carriage. They will get good views of the countryside and towns as they pass through on the way from Aswan to Luxor, before it gets dark.
Tipping
Tipping for guides and drivers is discretionary and recommended as a gesture of appreciation for the service provided. It is customary to tip the tour leader and driver at the end of the tour
Tipping in Egypt
A tipping kitty of USD 70pp – is collected at the start of the tour so the tour leader can take care of various services throughout the trip (eg. housekeeping, drivers, site guards, porters, cruise boat crew. Meals at your own expense will not include tipping – suggested amount 10% or leave the change.
The Egyptologist tour leader is not included in the kitty, a suggested amount of USD 10 per person/per day
Tipping in Turkey
Tipping in Turkey is part of the culture as a sign of appreciation for services provided for everything from table service in a restaurant, hotel staff and spa services.
The suggest amount for the tour leader is from 10 USD per day and the driver from 5 USD per day.
Any extra local guides for touring the suggested tipping is 2USD per person.
Flights
The outbound flight may depart one day prior to day 1 shown on the itinerary. The inbound flight may arrive one day after the final day shown on the itinerary. Flights are booked approximately 8 to 10 months prior to departure. The flights included in your package are based on a specific predetermined airfare allowance. Should there be a significant increase in airfares, fuel levies, taxes or government fees at the time of booking flights, then an airfare supplement may be imposed. The flights team will discuss options with you prior to ticketing, should this situation arise. Flights may not operate daily or directly to your destination. No show of any flight sectors will result in the automatic cancellation of all onward flights by the airline.
Fuel
In the unlikely event of a significant increase in fuel costs levied by third-party air, land and cruise transportation operators before travel, a fuel supplement may be passed on to the customer.
Group Size
This holiday will proceed with a minimum number of passengers and a maximum group size of 18 passengers. If the trip does not operate, you will be offered a credit.

Optional tours will be be booked on tour and paid in USD on arrival.
Minimum numbers may apply for the day tours to operate.
Itinerary
The operating schedule and itinerary may be impacted without notice by adverse weather, seasonal factors, closures, local conditions, pandemic or other factors beyond our control including force majeure. If attractions are not available due to reasons beyond our control such as closures or adverse weather, alternatives will be provided where possible. The itinerary and its order, sightseeing and transportation may be adjusted as deemed appropriate by the operator for optimum safety, enjoyment and operation. Any reference to ‘optional’, ‘not included’ or ‘exclusions/excluded’ means at your own expense.
Breakaway
Customers must remain with the tour group at all times and must not leave the tour unless written approval is provided before departure.
Documentation
Final documentation will be emailed within two weeks of departure. For packages consisting of multiple tours or countries, documentation will be emailed individually within two weeks of departure of each respective tour.
Travel Insurance

Force Majeure
Force majeure means any natural disaster, accident, fire, act of God, act of war, terrorism, legally binding judgment, injunction, action of a court or other relevant authority, emergency, unplanned repairs, maintenance, strike, industrial dispute, work ban, blockade or picketing, travel ban, pandemic, epidemic or outbreak of infectious disease, or other event beyond our reasonable direct or indirect control. In case of force majeure or other extraordinary event that prevents safe travel, the supplier reserves the right to adjust, postpone or cancel the trip.
