Welcome to India! On arrival in New Delhi airport, meet your local tour leader with a transfer to your hotel. Our tour leader will accompany you on this incredible adventure for the next 11 days.
After breakfast spend a full day exploring the bustling old town with a rickashaw ride in Chandi Chowk and seeing the grand architecture of New Delhi. Drive by parliament buidlings and India Gate memorial. This includes a visit to the stunning medieval Qutb Minar and Humayun’s Tomb one of first and beautiful garden tombs. At the end of the day finish at Connaughts Place, in the heart of New Delhi.
Start the day with a drive through the beautiful countryside and villages to Agra. During your tour visit the red sandstone Agra Fort, standing like a crescent on the banks of Jamuna River. Then visit the magnificent Taj Mahal, built in the middle of the 17th century by the Moghul emperor for his wife. Tonight, be treated to dinner at the hotel’s rooftop Mughal dining room.
This morning drive to Ranthambore National Park, stopping to wander the deserted plazas and streets of Fatephur Sikri, built in the 15th century and abandoned within 20 years due to a lack of the water. The ornate buildings and palaces are remarkably well preserved, offering a somewhat eerie insight into the grandeur of the Mughal Empire at its peak. Continue to Ranthambore, a reserve famous for its tiger populuation where we will stay for 2 nights.
Eary morning rise to start our jeep safari with the possibility of spotting tigers. Keep your eyes peeled for these majestic creatures strolling in the jungle or near any of the local lakes on our morning and afternoon safaris. The park is also home to many colourful birds as well as deer, gazelle, monkeys and more. There will also be time to explore the local bazaar in the nearby town of Sawai Madhopur.
Depart for Jaipur after breakfast this morning and arrive in time for lunch. Jaipur was painted terracotta pink in 1876 to celebrate the visit of the Prince of Wales and Queen Victoria to the city.  In the afternoon visit the beautifully ornate City Palace, including the seven storied Chandra Mahal (Moon Palace), the remarkable astronomical observatory and zenana mahals (harems). This evening there is free time to visit the local bazaars for souvenirs in the vibrant lanes of the pink city. Stay in Jaipur for 2 nights.
After breakfast this morning, visit the majestic Amber Fort, rising steeply along the hillside. Built in the 16th century by Rajput Kings from pale yellow and pink sandstone and white marble. The fort is still well preserved to explore the large ramparts, series of gates, cobbled paths and glittering mirrors. After a special local lunch, the rest of the day is free to explore the colourful town at your own pace.
Time to relax in the morning before we head back to Delhi with stops on the way. Drop off at the international airport for your flight home OR continue on our 2 night Varanasi Tour Extension.
