Arrive Adelaide

Upon arrival in Adelaide, make your own way to the hotel in the city and begin your adventure exploring the iconic sights of South Australia. Known as the city of churches, Adelaide is a place for foodies, wine-lovers and those looking to soak up cultural experiences and make memories.

 
Transfer to Mannum, Murray River Cruise

Today you’re bound for historic Mannum, the birthplace of the Murray River trade. A transfer will pick you up from your hotel in Adelaide and take you on the 90-minute drive out to the departure dock. Step onboard the traditional paddle steamer PS Murray Princess for a mid-afternoon departure. Enjoy a welcome dinner onboard and as you cruise under floodlight, you may spot nocturnal wildlife, such as wombats, tortoises, and egrets on the riverbank.

Murray River Cruise

Enjoy a leisurely morning as you cruise towards Blanchetown, passing through one of the locks that maintain the water flow on the mighty river. Moor and experience a guided tour of the Burk Salter Boutique Winery and surrounding vineyard, complete with a wine tasting. After dinner, join a night of fun and excitement at the ‘Murray River Cup’.

Murray River Cruise

Cruise to picturesque Swan Reach for a walking tour of the township and museum (gold coin donation at entry) built in 1917. Then, go ashore at Sunnydale for an authentic outback woolshed show, followed by a visit to the Native Wildlife Shelter. Later, delight in a great Aussie barbecue, cooked and served on the banks of the mighty Murray River.

Murray River Cruise

Today, enjoy a bush walk with the captain before stepping thousands of years back in time at Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Reserve, a significant archaeological site home to ancient rock carvings and fascinating Aboriginal history. Once back on board, adventure seekers can take a scenic tender boat ride. This evening, the captain and crew will host a memorable farewell dinner for your final night onboard PS Murray Princess.

Disembark at Mannum, Barossa Wine & Heritage Tour

Cruise back to Mannum, where you will disembark after breakfast. From here travel into the famous Barossa, Australia’s richest and best-known wine making region. Your first stop is at Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre, where you will enjoy a light morning tea while taking in the breath-taking views over the vineyards before moving on to a wine estate where for a two-course Barossa lunch incorporating fresh regional produce available in season at a wine estate. Then it’s on to the stunning Seppeltsfield Barossa, where you can participate in a short walking tour. Following the tour, a tasting of a fortified wine accompanied by an Owen Andrews Artisan Cuisine chocolate pecan brownie is included in a private setting. Finally, head back to the coach, sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery as you travel through the picturesque Eden Valley on your way back to Adelaide.

Kangaroo Island Experience Tour

Today is an early morning start with a boxed breakfast before starting your exciting day trip out to Kangaroo Island. Explore the highlights of South Australia’s premier nature-based tourism destination, Kangaroo Island. Visit unique Seal Bay where you’ll get up close to nature as the wild Australian sea lions frolic and laze about on the stunning beach. Enjoy a two-course lunch, followed by a memorable tour through the Flinders Chase National Park. View koalas and kangaroos at the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park before your return back to Adelaide.

Please Note: Today is a long day but with maximised sightseeing potential. Pick-up from the hotel in Adelaide is early in the morning with your included breakfast on this day being a boxed breakfast to go. From Adelaide, this tour is a 16-hour day that includes travel to and from Kangaroo Island. You do get time to rest during your ferry transfers and coach travel between attractions.

Relax and enjoy a full day of free time in Adelaide. Centrally located, Hilton Adelaide overlooks Victoria Square, the epicentre for Adelaide’s art, culture and dining scenes, this is a place for foodies, wine-lovers and those looking to soak up Adelaide culture. It is a short stroll to hot spots like Her Majesty’s Theatre, Chinatown and Adelaide Central Market. With a tram stop directly outside the hotel, you are also not far from the Art Gallery of South Australia, the Adelaide Casino and shopping hub, Rundle Mall. Become an “urban explorer” and discover one of the many galleries, theatres or stumble across hidden gin bars and cafes down secret laneways.

Child Policy

Children under 12 years of age are not permitted. Children 12 years and above accompanied by an adult are subject to adult pricing. Note that the cruise and tours may involve activities such as wine-tasting experiences not recommended for children.

Fitness to Travel Declaration

A Fitness to Travel Declaration must be completed before departure. Please note your travel is subject to your acceptance of the terms and conditions on the declaration issued by the cruise operator.

Transfers

Airport transfers are not included. Return transfers between Adelaide City and Mannum Port before and after the cruise are included.

Amendment Fees

Each amendment incurs a $75 per person administration fee. Additional fees and fare differences from third-party suppliers may apply.

Cancellation Fees

Cancellation is subject to a fee from $550 per person. Additional fees and fare differences from third-party suppliers including air, tour, cruise and accommodation providers may apply.

Deviation Fees

Any request to deviate from the original dates or routing, including early arrival and stay behind, is subject to a flight deviation fee from $150 per person plus applicable airfare and tax difference.

Pace

The pace of this tour is moderate. The tour involves some early starts and some long travel days – see the itinerary for an indication of the distances being travelled. It is important to note that Day 7 with the Kangaroo Island Experience is a long day. Pick-up from the hotel in Adelaide is early morning with your included breakfast on this day being a boxed breakfast. From Adelaide this tour is a 16-hour day that includes travel to and from Kangaroo Island. You do get time to rest during your ferry transfers and coach travel between attractions.

Fitness Requirements

A low to moderate level of fitness is required. You will be expected to alight from coaches on your own accord. You must also complete an online Fitness to Travel Declaration for the Murray Princess.

Baggage

Baggage is limited to what you can stow in your cabins, so you are strongly advised to pack light. All bags must be clearly labelled with your name and strictly limited to one 15kg bag per person. This limit supersedes any other baggage allowance. Bags will be loaded by staff as you board the cruise. Porterage is otherwise not included, and you will be expected to carry your own bags. Luggage and personal effects are your own risk, and we hold no liability for lost or damaged belongings.

Dietary

Please notify us and your tour guides of any special dietary requirements at the time of booking but note that choices may be limited or not catered for.

Accommodation

Accommodation names referenced are to be used as an indicative guide for the standard of accommodation to expect. Actual accommodation names may differ and will be confirmed on your final documentation. All hotel ratings are local or self-ratings provided by the supplier. All rooms will be lead-in category or run-of-house unless otherwise specified. The standard check-in time is after 2pm and check-out is before 10am.

Tipping

Tipping for guides and drivers is recommended but not compulsory. Cruise gratuities are not required but welcome.

Minimum Numbers

The operation of the tours and their optional programs may be subject to minimum numbers.

Itinerary

The operating schedule and itinerary may be impacted without notice by adverse weather, seasonal factors, closures, local conditions, COVID-19 or other factors beyond our control including force majeure. If attractions are not available due to reasons beyond our control such as closures or adverse weather, alternatives will be provided where possible without refund. The itinerary and its order, sightseeing and transportation may be adjusted as deemed appropriate by the operator for optimum safety, enjoyment and operation. Any reference to ‘optional’, ‘not included’ or ‘exclusions/excluded’ means at your own expense.

Breakaway Policy

It is a condition of booking that you must always remain with the tour according to the prescribed program. Departure from the group or deviation from the set itinerary are not permitted unless written prior approval is provided.

Final documentation will be emailed within one week of departure of the respective travel component.

Force Majeure

Force majeure means any natural disaster, accident, fire, act of God, act of war, terrorism, legally binding judgment, injunction, action of a court or other relevant authority, emergency, unplanned repairs, maintenance, strike, industrial dispute, work ban, blockade or picketing, travel ban, pandemic, epidemic or outbreak of infectious disease, or other events beyond our reasonable direct or indirect control. In case of force majeure or other extraordinary events that prevents safe travel, the supplier reserves the right to adjust, postpone or cancel the trip.
