Welcome to Malaysia! After arriving at Penang International Airport, you’ll be greeted by a tour representative and transferred to your hotel, with check-in from 3:00pm. The rest of the day is yours to relax and explore at your own pace.

Stroll the Street of Harmony, where centuries-old churches, temples and mosques reflect the island’s unique multicultural blend, then enjoy a nostalgic beca ride through narrow lanes past iconic sites such as Kapitan Keling Mosque and St. George’s Church. Continue to the Teochew Puppet & Opera House — the last of its kind in Malaysia — for a rare glimpse into traditional Chinese opera. The journey winds through scenic rice fields—perfect for birdwatching—before you unwind in a cozy countryside hut with traditional treats. With mostly flat terrain and around three hours of actual cycling, this immersive experience offers an easy and authentic glimpse into the peaceful lifestyle of Penang’s Malay fishing and farming communities.

Penang - Ipoh - Cameron Highlands

Begin your journey by crossing one of Southeast Asia’s longest bridges into mainland Malaysia, travelling onward to the cool highlands with a scenic drive. Stop in Ipoh, a charming former mining town framed by limestone hills, where you’ll visit the striking white “Taj Mahal of Malaysia” railway station and enjoy lunch nearby. Continue to the hidden Sam Poh Tong Temple, set within a limestone hill with serene gardens and a cave sanctuary, before exploring Kellie’s Castle — an unfinished Moorish-style mansion steeped in mystery and colonial history. The journey concludes as you ascend to Cameron Highlands, arriving for hotel check‑in in the late afternoon.

Kuala Lumpur & Batu Caves

Begin at the vibrant Sri Mahamariamman Temple in Chinatown—often called the Mother Temple—where the colourful gopuram and ornate deities honour the Goddess Parvati. Then continue to Batu Caves, the sacred shrine dedicated to Parvati’s son, housed in a dramatic limestone cavern, where we take a quiet moment for reflection, and, for those who wish, ascend the iconic 272‑step rainbow staircase to explore the upper cave sanctuary. This insightful experience highlights the symbolic connection between the Mother Temple and the Son Temple, offering guests a deeper appreciation of Hindu tradition and devotion.

Kuala Lumpur – Malacca

Journey by 2.5 hour coach to the historic city of Malacca, a drive that leads you into the heart of one of Southeast Asia’s oldest trading ports.  On arrival, your exploration begins at the civic area with A Famosa and St. Paul’s Church, enduring landmarks of the region’s earliest Western settlement, before continuing to Dutch Square with its striking red colonial buildings and the 300‑year‑old Dutch Church. Visit the iconic Baba & Nyonya Museum, once the opulent home of a wealthy Peranakan family, and enjoy a delicious Peranakan lunch showcasing Malacca’s unique fusion flavours. Afterward, a leisurely 40‑minute river cruise reveals colourful shophouses, charming bridges and the occasional wildlife sighting. The day concludes with a visit to Kampung Morten and Villa Sentosa, a beautifully preserved traditional Malay village home that offers a glimpse into early 20th‑century Malay life.

Malacca – Fly to Sandakan, Borneo

Rise early this morning as you return to Kuala Lumpur to catch your flight to Borneo. Upon arrival in Sandakan, your local guide will welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation in Sepilok. After checking in, enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure, taking time to relax and soak in the tranquil forest surroundings as you prepare for the exciting adventures ahead.

Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center

Begin your day with a visit to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, where orphaned and injured orangutans are nurtured and rehabilitated to return to life in the wild. Wander through the lush lowland rainforest and witness the mid-morning feeding from a viewing platform.  Afterwards, by transferred by boat on a scenic two‑hour journey along the Kinabatangan River, to your lodge, passing riverside villages and pristine rainforest with chances to spot wildlife along the way. Check‑in in time for a late lunch, followed by a briefing from your local guide. Later in the afternoon, embark on a river cruise in search of proboscis monkeys, hornbills, gibbons, elephants and other incredible wildlife. After dinner, end the day with a gentle night walk along the boardwalk to observe nocturnal creatures in their natural habitat.

Camera Fee: At Sepilok, zoom lenses (100–400mm), video cameras or recording devices incur a RM10 fee per unit, payable in cash. Cameras with fixed lenses over 400mm or film-making equipment are charged RM1,000 per unit. Mobile phone cameras are free.

Kinabatangan Wetlands & Wildlife

Begin your day with a peaceful boat ride to the tranquil Kelenanap Oxbow Lake, where calm waters and lush surroundings offer the chance to spot unique wildlife and plant species found away from the main river. Keep your eyes peeled for colourful hornbills, monitor lizards, macaques and elusive river creatures in their natural habitat.
After returning to the lodge for lunch and some leisure time, head out again in the late afternoon on another relaxing river safari, gliding silently through the rainforest waters to spot more wildlife at its most active, enjoying beautiful light for photography as you cruise past mangroves and riverside village scenes — and, on clear evenings, the magical glow of fireflies. After dinner, round off the day with a night river safari to seek out nocturnal creatures before returning to the lodge to relax in the quiet of the rainforest.

Kinabatangan Wetlands – Ranau - Kundasang

After breakfast, enjoy a final wander along the lodge’s nature boardwalk before checking out and travelling by boat back to Sandakan. From there, continue overland on the scenic 4 hour coach journey to Kundasang, passing through lush rainforest, rural villages and sweeping palm plantations. En route, stop at the Luanti Fish Spa for a unique natural foot‑spa experience in the river, then continue to the Sabah Tea Factory for lunch with beautiful views over the rolling tea plantations. Arrive in Kundasang and check in to your hotel, with the rest of the day free at leisure.

Kundasang - Kota Kinabalu

After breakfast the day starts with a visit to the Kundasang War Memorial, a poignant tribute to the Sandakan Death March and the prisoners of war who perished along the route. Continue to Kinabalu Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its extraordinary biodiversity, where you’ll enjoy a guided nature walk through lush mountain trails before stopping for lunch. Afterwards, travel onward to Kota Kinabalu along a scenic mountain road, with the chance to admire majestic views of Mount Kinabalu if weather permits. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Kota Kinabalu Sightseeing

Begin your day with a sightseeing drive through Kota Kinabalu, once known as “Singgahmata” or “the place where the eye lingers.” Take in the city’s key landmarks, including the striking Wisma Tun Mustapha, the State Mosque and the Sabah Museum, which offers insight into the history and cultural heritage of Sabah’s many indigenous groups. After lunch, continue to the Mari Mari Cultural Village, set amid lush greenery just outside the city. Here, you’ll be welcomed into traditional homes representing several ethnic tribes and experience their way of life through hands‑on demonstrations such as fire starting, blowpipe making and traditional tattoo art. After this immersive cultural encounter, return to your hotel to enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Singapore Sightseeing

Begin your morning with a visit to the Singapore Botanical Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where a tranquil walk brings you to the National Orchid Garden, home to over a thousand brilliantly coloured orchid species. Continue to the Civic District for photo stops at Singapore’s most beautifully preserved colonial landmarks, including the National Gallery, Old Parliament House and Victoria Concert Hall. Your tour then leads to the iconic Merlion Park, offering panoramic views of Marina Bay Sands and the city skyline, before a leisurely stroll through the vibrant Chinatown district. The afternoon is free at leisure to relax or explore Singapore at your own pace.

Our multi-stop Malaysia, Borneo & Singapore tour is carefully designed to give a real insight into the highlights, culture and beauty of each country. Each day will be different, with a combination of travel days, sightseeing and free time to explore or take a breather as you wish.

Pace

This is a moderate paced tour. The tour covers several areas of Malaysia, Borneo & Singapore and can involve some early starts and long travel days – see the itinerary for an indication of the distances travelled by the coach. The on-the-go nature of multi-city tours rewards you with maximum sightseeing opportunities. One to two nights at each destination is standard.

Fitness

A moderate level of fitness is required. You are required to move about unassisted, including boarding and exiting/disembarking vehicles and other forms of transportation, walking up and down flights of stairs, and navigating occasional uneven or steep terrain. If airport transfers are included, they may not always reach the hotel door, so short walks may be required of you.  This trip is not suitable for travellers’ requiring wheelchair, mobility scooters or specialised facilities. Other walking aids may be permitted if you are able to move independently and keep pace with the group. Please note that there will be a fair amount of walking and some locations will have stairs. If you have any health concerns, let us know when booking so we can help confirm if this trip is suitable for you.

Baggage

Each person is entitled to a strict maximum of one bag not exceeding 20kg on tour, superseding any other baggage allowance. You are strongly encouraged to pack lightly. A light day bag or backpack is permitted on the coach. Porterage is not included, and you are required to carry your own bags. Luggage and personal effects are your own risk, and we hold no liability for lost or damaged belongings.

Group Size

On a tour you will meet like-minded travellers and may even make lifelong friends. This holiday will proceed with a minimum group size of approximately 15 people and a maximum group size of approximately 24 people. If the tour does not operate due to minimum numbers, you will be offered a credit or alternative date.

Malaysia Tourism Tax

Please note: The mandatory Malaysia Tourism Tax of 10 MYR (approx. $3 AUD) per room, per night is payable locally to your hotel upon check-in and is not included in your tour price.

Malaysia Digital Arrival Card

Payment

A first deposit from $499 per person is required to secure your booking. A second deposit (partial payment) is due 10 months before departure – the amount to be advised at the time of booking. The final balance will be due 5 months before departure. Full payment is due at the time of booking for departures within 5 months.

Price

Surcharges may apply for select travel periods and departure cities. Prices are correct at the time of publication and are subject to availability, change, cancellation or withdrawal without notice. All prices are in Australian dollars per person twin share unless stated otherwise.

Change & Cancellation Fees

Changes for any reason will incur a fee of $110 per person per change in addition to any travel service provider fees. Cancellation for any reason will incur a fee of $550 per person in addition to any travel service provider fees. Travel service provider fees for the tour and air components of the package are dependent on the date of the change or cancellation as follows:

  • 0-29 days before departure 100% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply;
  • 30-60 days before departure 65% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply;
  • 61-99 days before departure 50% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply;
  • 100-180 days before departure 30% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply;
  • 181+ days before departure 10% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply.

Airfares are generally non-refundable but any refundable ticket taxes will be returned. Full details of the change and cancellation fees is outlined in the Terms & Conditions available on our website.

Deviation

Any request to deviate from the original dates or routing, including early arrival and stay behind, is subject to a flight deviation fee from $150 per person plus applicable airfare and tax difference. Packaged tour extensions are not subject to the deviation fee (applicable airfare and tax difference may still apply) if booked according to the original advertised dates and routing.

Passport

For international travel, each customer must provide a copy of the passport photo page at the time of booking. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure all names are full names exactly matched to the passport with six months validity beyond trip completion. The customer is liable for all fees due to incorrect names, invalid passport information and expired passports.

Visa

A visa is generally not required for Australian passport holders visiting Singapore & Malaysia for the purpose of short-term tourism; however, this policy is subject to change without notice. Visa requirements for each origin and destination country are the responsibility of the customer to check and obtain (if required) with the local consulate or embassy. Passengers who are not Australian citizens must also check with the respective consulate or visa agency to determine what their visa requirements are and what personal identification is required.

Malaysia Digital Arrival Card

Effective December 2023, all foreigners entering Malaysia will be required to complete the “Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)” at least 3 days prior to their arrival. This applies to all travellers, except for those transiting or transferring through Singapore without seeking immigration clearance, Malaysian permanent residents, and Malaysian Automated Clearance System (MACS) holders. Health

It is the responsibility of the customer to check and comply with the health, vaccination, COVID-19 and immigration requirements of each origin and destination country, and health requirements imposed by air, tour, cruise and accommodation providers. Vaccinations, testing and quarantine costs are the expense of the customer. Comprehensive travel insurance with COVID-19 coverage is strongly recommended.

Baggage

Each person is entitled to a strict maximum of one bag not exceeding 20kg on tour, superseding any other baggage allowance. You are strongly encouraged to pack lightly. A light day bag or backpack is permitted on the coach. Porterage is not included, and you are required to carry your own bags. Luggage and personal effects are your own risk, and we hold no liability for lost or damaged belongings.

Transfers

Arrival and departure group tour airport transfers are included providing you are arriving on the first and last day of the tour. Transfers are not included for early arrival into Kuala Lumpur, or extending your stay in Penang. Airport transfers may operate at designated times and may be group or independent services using private or public transportation. A short walk to the hotel carrying your own luggage may be required from the drop-off point.

Meals

All breakfasts are included as part of the tour. For other meals included in the itinerary, we aim to cater to a wide range of tastes, providing food that is not too spicy or unusual but still represents the delicious local cuisine.  Any dietary requests should be specified at the time of booking.  We endeavour to pass on your dietary requirements but cannot guarantee that they can be met as certain choices may be limited or not catered for. You are required to reconfirm dietary requests with your tour leader whilst on tour. Your patience and understanding are appreciated.

Accommodation

While you will not spend much time in the hotels, each has been carefully selected to suit the size and needs of the group. Our accommodation is generally of a quality 3 to 4-star or higher local rating. All hotel rooms will feature either a twin room (two single beds) or a double room (1 Queen bed). All bedding requests cannot be guaranteed however all special requests should be made known at time of booking. All rooms are lead-in category or run of house unless otherwise specified. All hotel rooms will be requested as nonsmoking. Hotel names referenced are to be used as an indicative guide for the standard of accommodation to expect. Actual hotels may differ and will be confirmed on your final documentation.

Please note: The Strawberry Park Resort Cameron Highlands does not have a lift, fans or air-conditioning. However, it is located in the Cameron Highlands which enjoys a much cooler temperature throughout the year, unlike the normal typical tropical climate in the rest of Malaysia.

Tourism Tax

Non-Malaysian travellers and foreign passport holders are required to pay the Malaysia Tourism Tax (TTx). The TTx is collected by your hotels/lodges upon check-in and they may request to photocopy your identification documents such as your passport. Malaysian Tourism Tax is 10 MYR per night, per room. Approximately $3 AUD. This is a standard practice to ensure compliance with the Tourism Tax regulations.

Tipping

Tipping for the tour guides as well as the drivers is a customary element of the tourism and strongly recommended as a gesture of appreciation for the service provided. The suggested tipping amount is the equivalent of AUD$5 per person each day is recommended.

Flights

The outbound flight may depart one day prior to day 1 shown on the itinerary. The inbound flight may arrive one day after the final day shown on the itinerary. Flights are booked approximately 8 to 10 months prior to departure. The flights included in your package are based on a specific predetermined airfare allowance. Should there be a significant increase in airfares, fuel levies, taxes or government fees at the time of booking flights, then an airfare supplement may be imposed. The flight team will discuss options with you prior to ticketing, should this situation arise. Flights may not operate daily or directly to your destination. No show of any flight sectors will result in the automatic cancellation of all onward flights by the airline.

Fuel

In the unlikely event of a significant increase in fuel costs levied by third-party air, land and cruise transportation operators before travel, a fuel supplement may be passed on to the customer.

Group Size

On a tour you will meet like-minded travellers and may even make lifelong friends. This holiday will proceed with a minimum group size of approximately 15 people and a maximum group size of approximately 24 people. If the tour does not operate due to minimum numbers, you will be offered a credit or alternative date.

Optional Tours

Specially crafted optional programs provide flexibility for you to explore further. Optional programs are expertly guided and include dedicated coach transportation, admissions and more. Optional programs can be booked directly with the guide and paid in the local currency.

Itinerary

The operating schedule and itinerary may be impacted without notice by adverse weather, seasonal factors, closures, local conditions, COVID-19 or other factors beyond our control including force majeure. If attractions are not available due to reasons beyond our control such as closures or adverse weather, alternatives will be provided where possible. The itinerary and its order, sightseeing and transportation may be adjusted as deemed appropriate by the operator for optimum safety, enjoyment and operation. Any reference to ‘optional’, ‘not included’ or ‘exclusions/excluded’ means at your own expense.

Breakaway

Customers must remain with the tour group at all times and must not leave the tour unless written approval is provided before departure.

Documentation

Final documentation will be emailed within 30 days of departure. For packages consisting of multiple tours or countries, documentation will be emailed individually within two weeks of departure of each respective tour.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is not included and is strongly recommended. Ask our holiday experts for great coverage options.

Force Majeure

Force majeure means any natural disaster, accident, fire, act of God, act of war, terrorism, legally binding judgment, injunction, action of a court or other relevant authority, emergency, unplanned repairs, maintenance, strike, industrial dispute, work ban, blockade or picketing, travel ban, pandemic, epidemic or outbreak of infectious disease, or other event beyond our reasonable direct or indirect control. In case of force majeure or other extraordinary event that prevents safe travel, the supplier reserves the right to adjust, postpone or cancel the trip.
